In Poland, in Krakow more precisely, you can find the Franciscan basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Built between 1237 and 1269, it’s one of the oldest churches in the city, it has been remodeled many times since its construction.
Between 1896 and 1902, Stanisław Wyspiański, a painter from Krakow, decorated it from floor to ceiling following an order from the Franciscan monks. This church is one of the most colorful in Krakow, it is also one of the most beautiful that I have visited so far, I let you judge with the photos. Starry nights on the ceiling, flowers (emblematic of Poland) and geometric patterns on the walls, not to mention the Art Nouveau stained glass windows, you will see on a photo below the largest and most known stained glass window : God-the-Father.
Enjoy your visit, you know what to do if you go to Krakow!
